Multiple antenna techniques are well proven to enhance radio frequency (RF) wireless communications. Several modern communication standards  have  used  multiple antenna technologies to give throughput and reliability advantages. Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology refers to deploying multiple antennas at the transmitter, receiver, or both. MIMO is highly studied in cellular networks, including base stations. However, it has not been studied extensively in mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs). MANET is a wireless communication self-organizing and self- configuring network that allows mobile devices to connect with each other in regions without communication infrastructure. In this research, MIMO technologies are examined in order to boost the throughput of MANETs when either a reactive or proactive routing protocol is chosen as its routing method. The ad-hoc on-demand distance  vector (AODV)  and the  destination sequenced distance  vector  (DSDV) routing protocols were selected since they are the most widely used reactive and proactive routing methods. We explain the suggested technique, then present performance assessment results of throughput in different scenarios of networks using the Network Simulator 3 (NS3). The results show the proposed method successfully improves the throughput of both protocols (DSDV and AODV), and the results show the throughput of the AODV is better than of the DSDV in both cases, with and without MIMO.
