The Libyan Banking System Conference – Towards a Future Vision for Development concludes its activities in the city of Benghazi, calling for the necessity of ending the state of political division and unifying institutions. Participants in the conference called for a reassessment of monetary policy and the need for coordination between overall economic policies, as well as working on developing the banking sector and selecting and training human resources.
They emphasised the importance of addressing debts and their classification, completing alternative treatments, supporting a culture of compliance and governance, investing in technological infrastructure, and giving sufficient attention. The conference addressed various challenges facing the banking sector, commercial banks, and the role of the Libyan banking system in economic activity, diagnosing the current state of the banking system in Libya, the role of non-banking financial institutions supporting the Libyan banking system, and outlining a future vision for the development of the Libyan banking system.
