A meeting was held this morning, Sunday, November 17, 2024, at the office of Dr. Abdalmatlub A. Bofrowa, President of Omar Al-Mukhtar University, with the committee appointed by the Minister of Health of the Libyan Government, chaired by Mr. Abdel-Rahim Mazek, Director General of Al-Bayda Medical Center, and committee members, in the presence of Dr. Sand Haddad, Director of the General Administration of Faculty Affairs, and Professor Dr. Imhamed Faraj Al-Khazali, Director of the Quality and Performance Evaluation Department at the university.
The meeting began with a welcoming speech from the university president, who expressed his appreciation for the fruitful cooperation between Al-Bayda Medical Center and Omar Al-Mukhtar University in serving the educational process, emphasizing the importance of integration between academic and health institutions to achieve common goals.
The meeting discussed a proposal to transfer clinical faculty members from hospitals and medical centers to universities, in accordance with Law No. 4 of 2020 concerning universities, along with several topics aimed at enhancing the university’s role in community service and supporting the quality of medical education.
The main points of the meeting included the following:
Establishing a mechanism to catalog clinical faculty members and align their qualifications with the quality standards approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Studying the needs of the university’s medical Faculties for clinical faculty members in coordination with the medical center and determining the mechanisms for their acceptance based on the university’s requirements.
Coordinating with relevant authorities to set the timeline for transferring faculty members and approving the proposals organizing this process.
Defining clinical work regulations for faculty members within teaching hospitals, ensuring the implementation of medical teaching plans alongside patient care.
Providing proposals that offer final solutions within the framework of existing legislation, achieving a balance between the educational process and medical duties within teaching hospitals.
At the end of the meeting, the university president expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the attendees for their fruitful efforts, praising the constructive cooperation that contributes to the development of medical education and the enhancement of health services, and wishing the appointed committee continued success in their future tasks.
