Prof. Dr. Ezzedin Shuaib Mohamed, Professor of Genetics at the Faculty of Agriculture – Department of Horticulture, delivered a lecture titled “Biodiversity in El-Jebel El-Akhdar: Origin and Development”. The lecture included many key points summarized in the following:

Biodiversity has been a topic of global scientific interest since the 1980s and continues to be so today. El-Jebel El-Akhdar is considered a natural forest spanning an area from Tunisia in the west to Palestine in the east (approximately 3 million square kilometers). The goal of this lecture was to provide a scientific perspective on the subject of biodiversity and to highlight this Invaluable region, which constitutes less than 1% of Libya’s area but holds the majority of the country’s biodiversity.

The researcher recommended that all interested parties should establish a working group to collect and document all elements of biodiversity in El-Jebel El-Akhdar.
