Evaluation of the Role of the School Psychological Counselor at Secondary School Stage in the City of Misurata from the Point of View of School Principals

The aim of the research is to evaluate the role of the school psychological counselor in the secondary education stage in the city of Misurata from the point of view of school principals. The researchers used the analytical descriptive approach, and to achieve the research objectives, the researchers relied on a questionnaire prepared by them, which consisted of (30) items distributed over four areas, Where the research sample consisted of (20) principals who were selected using a random sample method during the academic year 2021. The researchers also used the statistical means of frequencies, percentages, the arithmetic mean, and the standard deviation, and analyzed the data using the Spss statistical program. The search results found:
- The low level of performance of the school psychological counselor in the first field, as it is (85%) that he does not have the technical and professional capabilities for school psychological counselling, As well as the low level of his performance in the fourth field, as he has a rate of (85%) that he does not have the ability to interact with the school environment surrounding him.
Despite having the scientific qualification and practical experience suitable for the profession and good human relations. In light of the findings of the research, the researchers recommended the following: The need for scientific and periodic evaluation of the performance of the school psychological counselor, to find out the negatives and correct them As well as knowing the positives and working to enhance them Providing encouragement and moral and material support to the school psychological counselor so that he can carry out his job duties entrusted to him in the best way.
